Photographed on a table are a hand-cut strip of transparent paper bearing a handwritten excerpt from Michel de Montaigne Essais, 1580 (...)I want to be seen here in my simple, natural, ordinary fashion, without straining or artifice; for it is myself that I portray.(...), three paper hand-cuts of the Penrose Triangle, first created by Oscar Reutersvärd and then devised and popularised by Lionel and Roger Penrose and described as an "impossibility in its purest form" and a folding metal ruler.
